Fav O' Rite

With the 20th Anniversary cigar releasing very soon, I want to know about your favorite cigar.

This is the last chance to have your name entered in the contest for a box of free Savinelli 20th Anniversary cigars due out next month.

What made your favorite cigar memorable? Have you smoked it again? Do you prefer a certain size over another?

Have you ever smoked a cigar that was terrible, one that you didn't finish?

Don't worry, I won't be mad at you if you say your favorite isn't a Savinelli. You just haven't smoked the right stick yet...

  1. My favorite cigar is the Cohiba Red Dot robusto. In addition to my sentimental attachment to Cohiba, (the first cigar that I smoked with my brother), I just think that it's such a fine smoke. Even though I haven't been able to afford to smoke many over the last few years, every time my brother is in town, we make sure to smoke a few sticks when we get together. I always know what to expect every time I light one up, and it always satisfies.

  2. The Cohiba Robusto (my fav size) was my most memorable cigar because it was my honeymoon in Victoria, BC. My last stick was memorable because I enjoyed it in a hot tub while snow quietly fell in Park City. Hmmm....but any size Savinelli for me sounds great right about now.

As far as a terrible stick....I only remember this one that was rolled so tight I couldn't get a good draw on it. Guess the good outnumber the bad!

  3. I don't know that I have a favorite cigar; there are just so many great sticks out there. But a memorable cigar would probably be when I smoked a CAO La Traviata Maduro. There was so much hype prior to its release last year due to the success of the original CAO La Traviata, so when I lit the Maduro version up, it didn't disappoint. I thoroughly enjoyed the flavors of that cigar.
My favorite size would be the corona or anything similarly sized.
I'd rather not mention the worst tasting cigar I've had... Somebody out there probably loves it!

  4. i couldn't tell you what my favorite cigar is, don't really have one. most of the ones i have smoked were quite good, although the flavored ones tend to be nasty. i would have to say i lean more towards the natural flavored cigars, but i'll try anything once.

  5. I can't say I have one favorite. A couple of them are the LFD Salomon, San Lotano Habano, Avo Heritage, Padron 1964 Maduro, CAO La Traviata.

As far as memorable ones, here is the the most memorable one I have at the moment. I attended a Big Smoke on year and Carlito handed out a size of the Opus X he called the Rising X. I decided to put that away for a special occasion. A few years later I was able to light up that cigar on my wedding day.

As far as a bad cigar I've unfortunately had quite a few of them. Actually had one last week, but it shall remain nameless.

  6. My favorites change often especially with all of the new cigars on the market these days. So I will have so to say my favorite Savinelli is the RyR Series Y.
About a year ago I had the pleasure of meeting Steve Y. at an opening event at a shop in Salisbury NC. After a short discussion with Steve, he recommended I try the RyR and man I was blown away. The flavors and complexity of this cigar blew me away from the start...I immediately bought a box and have probably smoked my way through 6 boxes in the last year! Sad to see this great stick is now on the "retired" list...I still have a few churchill's left, and I know I will cry like a baby when they are gone!
That was my first Savinelli and my favorite, but I have since become a huge fan of the entire line. Looking forward to the 20th Anni and more great things from you guys!

  7. Thanks @JustJoeEd. I have a feeling you will enjoy the Dos Campeones. We tried to keep the RyR alive in this new line. It has two blends in the box, but both will be reminiscent of the RyR.

  9. In a World were there are great cigars to choose from it's difficult to come out with a hands down favorite, but I have to say that the one of the most memorable ones is the Kristoff Maduro because it was a surprise gift from someone that has become a dear friend to me. I have smoked it again and everytime I'm reminded of our friendship. My favorite size is the robusto and the toro.

Regarding my worst smoking experience the choice is EASY, the Te-Amo Nicaraguan Blend still brings nightmares and that horrible taste as I write this. YUK!

  10. I have a favorite style of cigar, but no clear cut favorite brand or vitola. I like full flavored, broadleaf or Mexican maduro wrapper and smooth, sweet fillers. Mild, medium, full, makes no difference as long as it has a lot of flavor. On the other hand, I really enjoyed a La Aurora Puro Vintage 2003 yesterday to celebrate the birth of my first grandchild!

  11. What's my favorite cigar? Probably the next one. Seriously, that's hard to answer. As far as super premium cigar$, I like the Padron 1964's. If you're asking about an everyday smoke, it's probably the J.C. Newman Brick House. The best thing about smoking cigars is discovering new ones. That's why I'd love to win a box of Savinelli cigars.

  12. Wish Savinelli had a bigger B&M presence in the Philly area I would be able to try more blends. So my current go to cigar is Tatuaje haven't met one I haven't liked between the Miami, Havana IV I am a Med-Full Full smoker. As for one I haven't finished a handful for construction issues no draw wrapper coming apart. The Acid line is the one I can't stand when finding my nitch with cigars I tied the Acid line a few flavors and the potpourri on a stick was not for me but I didn't finish them.

  13. There are lots of blends out there that I like and it is hard to pick a favorite. I like a milder smoke in the morning, a quick one in the afternoon and a nice full bodied, big fatty in the evening. A few on the top of this are Tatuaje Havana IV, the Graycliff 1666, of course the Opus X. There are many more. I have not had the opportunity to try a Savinelli and am hoping to win this and then maybe I can readily name a top favorite. Anyway, thanks for the chance.

  14. I am a relatively new cigar smoker. I started dabbling with cigars during a visit to New Orleans last spring. Bought a 10-pack of Plantation Reserve Corona's. Not bad for a beginner smoke. I have since purchased a nice desktop humidor and dabbled in a variety of different cigars from local places in Minneapolis, but have also ordered some online. Still trying to learn and experience a variety of cigars one smoke at a time. Cheers.

  15. I've had several favorites, but CAO blends have always had a home in my humi.

I think what makes a cigar special and memorable is where you smoke but more importantly who you smoke it with. Padron 1964 Anniversary's will also hold a special place in my heart because it was the exclusive cigar of my brother and we shared so many great conversations over those cigars. I always find the situation you are in can make a great cigar even better.
