Heard it Through the Pipe Tamper 3-3-2011

On this edition of The Pipe Tamper...

We go back in time with Savinelli.

With the recent news of the RyR Series being discontinued, it got me thinking about other cigar lines to come and go within Savinelli.

In 1997, just three years after the release of the still popular ELR series, Savinelli launched the Oro 750 line.

The Oro 750, out of the Dominican, was a medium strength stick with an Indonesian grown dark Sumatra wrapper and a Dominican binder and filler. The Oro 750 received a rating of 90 by CA in Oct. 97.

Another 'gone but not forgotten' line from Savinelli is the Fuerte

This cigar, out of Tobacos Puros, was sweet with a hint of coffee and wood. In July, '04 it received a rating of 89 by CA.

Before the Special Selection 2005 (which we know will also be joining this list later in 2011) Savinelli launched the Special Selection 2004.

The SS2004 had brawny and leathery flavors with licorice and spice. We are excited about the Special Selection 2006 due out later in 2011.

Finally we come to the Liga Especial, which was recently replaced with the Liga Especial II.

This cigar had a nutty, toasty aroma. A cedary finish with leather and light spice flavors. It received a rating of 91 by CA in Oct. '04.

The RyR Series is in good company of retired Savinelli Cigars.

This year, along with the RyR, we will also be retiring the Special Selection 2005(being replaced by the Special Selection 2006) and the Nicaragua Reserve(Being replaced by the Nicaragua Reserve 2007).

We are proud of the cigars that helped build Savinelli. We are excited about the cigars we current offer and of course, the cigars in the works at Savinelli for 2011.

As always...Stay lit my friends!

Jon
